Affected Mines in Ohio: Is It Really About Safety?

That's what the owner of Murray Energy Corp. claims:  "'This is a safety issue,' he [Robert Murray] continued. 'I just don't want the gas wells where our human beings are, and I don't want our human beings where the gas wells are.'"  (The Herald-Star).  But then there's this:  "He said mining around - rather than through - such a well would cost his company $8 million and require him to shut the affected mine down for about three weeks."

Hmmm...
