To follow a theme from the last post, here is an article from the Times Record News on the impact oil and gas development is having on at least one state, Texas: "'What was already stout industry job growth according to the original data, turned out to be even stronger when the commission concluded its annual review,' said Karr Ingham, the economist who created the Texas Petro Index and updates it monthly. 'Not only is the state oil and gas industry leading the Texas economy out of recession, employment records show this industry also is a leading job creator in Texas, especially when the effects of economic multipliers are factored in. *** Anyone who suggests that the petroleum industry isn't playing a leading role in the turnaround of the U.S. national economy and leading job growth across the U.S. obviously hasn't looked at all the evidence.'"
