The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services has released its latest quarterly shale report. From the Executive Summary: "Ohio is fortunate to have this natural resource that can provide good jobs for families and reinvigorate many of our communities, especially those in the eastern part of the state. The average wages of shale-related jobs are excellent: $74,382 in core industries and $59,154 in ancillary industries. In both cases, this is higher than the average wage in all Ohio industries: $44,367." From Columbus Business First: "The department reported Monday that employment in core industries such as well drilling and pipeline construction stood at 8,192 jobs in the first quarter of 2013, the most recent quarter measured. That was up from 6,263 for the same period in 2011 – the year Job and Family Services uses as the base for comparisons in its quarterly shale reports."
