From the Times Leader:

The planned PennEast Pipeline β€” which will start in Luzerne County β€” will create 12,000 jobs within a six-county area and have a $1.62 billion impact on Pennsylvania and New Jersey, according to a economic impact study released Monday.

A two-month study by Drexel University School of Economics and Econsult Solutions Inc. analyzed the short- and long-term economic benefits of the 114-mile pipeline.

Findings show the pipeline will give a boost to the six-county region as short-term construction jobs and long-term maintenance positions are filled. Residents will also see lower utility bills as more natural gas enters the market, providing an increase in disposable income spending. Plus, a new source of tax revenue will be developed.

β€œThe pipeline will have a significant ripple effect on the economy,” Vibhas Madan, professor of economics and director of the School of Economics at Drexel University, said in a telephone conference Monday.
