The Akron Beacon Journal has summarized some of the data from a report by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas, on the state’s horizontal shale production for the second quarter of 2015. Some of the interesting tidbits:
- Guernsey County was the top oil producing county, followed by Carroll, Harrison, Noble and Belmont counties. London Township in Guernsey County was home to the top five oil producing wells in Ohio, all five of which were owned by Ascent Resources (formerly known as American Energy – Utica).
- Belmont County was the top natural gas producing county in Ohio, with 19 out of 20 top-producing natural gas wells. Smith Township in Belmont County was home to the top five gas wells in Ohio, all five of which were owned by Rice Energy Inc.
- Chesapeake Energy was the top oil and gas producer for this quarter.
